Single frequency laser, i.e. single longitudinal mode laser, is characterized in that the output laser mode meets both single transverse mode and single longitudinal mode. Only a single longitudinal mode oscillates in the resonator, and the output light intensity presents Gaussian distribution. In addition to the good monochromaticity and directivity of the laser itself, the single frequency laser has the characteristics of long coherence length and narrow spectral line width, which are difficult to achieve by ordinary lasers.
